Pro Version for Larger Organizations
Our free Windows/desktop version is great for small businesses with fairly simply needs while our Pro Version is often better for larger companies. For example, if you have multiple locations or if you need to support lots of users, our web-based version may be a better option for you.
This chart compares the Free and Pro versions of SpendMap.
Installation Instructions
It’s really not all that hard but you will need Administrator privileges on your computer (i.e. in Windows) to complete the installation. If you don’t have Admin rights, someone else can do the installation for you, like your IT Department, consultant or your know-it-all buddy (Admin rights are needed for the initial installation only but not for ongoing/daily use of the system).
TIP: Keep this page open for easy reference until you complete all 3 steps below…
Step 1/3: Download the Installation Package
Download the installation package (SpendMap-2022-SETUP.EXE) and save it somewhere on your computer (e.g. My Documents, Downloads or on your desktop) rather than running it directly from the download server.
Click here to download the installation package (SpendMap-2022-SETUP.EXE)
.
Step 2/3: Install SpendMap on your PC
RIGHT-mouse click on “SpendMap-2022-SETUP.EXE” and select the menu to “Run as Administrator“, then follow the prompts to install the software.
IMPORTANT: When asked for a location/folder to install the software in, accept the default (C:\FREEPROCUREMENT) or select another folder on your local PC (even if you need a multi-user/network installation). Please see “Note for Network Installations”, below, for more details. Also please avoid installing in “C:\Program Files”, as that folder is set to Read Only in some versions of Windows.
.
Step 3/3: Run SpendMap “as admin” to Complete the Setup Process
Now that the installation is complete, you will see a new folder on your desktop called “SpendMap Free Version” with five shortcuts/icons in it.
.
RIGHT-mouse click on the shortcut/icon for the Evaluation Copy of SpendMap and select the menu to “Run as Administrator” to allow the software to complete the setup process.
.
REMINDER: Admin rights are needed the first time you run the software only, not for ongoing/daily use of the system.
Note for Network Installations
The free version of SpendMap can either be installed on your local PC (e.g. on your C: drive) or on a network server for multi-user access.
However, in all cases, you must start by installing the software on your local PC, even if you need a multi-user installation. If you need to, you can move SpendMap to your server AFTER the initial installation, by following the steps under “Network Installation Instructions” in the Getting Started Documentation that you will see once the system is installed locally.
If you try to install it on your server to start with, it will not work and you will have to start over.
We have carefully developed these instructions to make it as easy as possible for both single user and multi-user installations. If you follow the instructions and don’t skip any steps, you should have no trouble at all.
Next Steps
To save you time, we have carefully prepared the software and instructions to make it as easy as possible for you to evaluate and implement SpendMap.
Once the software is installed, please take a moment to review the Getting Started Documentation. The installation program will create a shortcut/icon pointing to the Getting Started Documentation for your convenience…

All you need is a standard PC running Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11, with 2 GB of RAM, about 5 GB of free hard disk space and an internet connection so that the system can check for updates.
Auto-Updates
SpendMap will connect to our Update Server to check for updates (patches) from time to time. Depending on how strictly you have configured your firewall or proxy server, you may get a message that our PURCHASE.EXE is trying to connect to the update server at www.spendmap-updates.com.
